Childcare in Ottawa

Unfortunately, I think the time with my DD (14 months) may be drawing near. I REALLY wish I could stay home another year with her, but it no longer looks like this is possible.

Could anyone recommend a childcare provider to me? I live in the McKellar area.

Thank-you so much!

So many views! No leads.

Sorry mama, I don't know where the McKellar area is. I'm in Kanata. Have you tried Wee Watch? You could also post an ad on Kijiji looking for a childcare provider, or scroll through the ads already on there.

I don't know McKeller but I used Andrew Fleck Child Care for my DS's home care and LOOOOOOVED his care provider. I would say he had almost as good as care as I would have given.

Thanks for the leads! McKeller is near Westboro. Is Andrew Fleck downtown?

Thanks.

I believe so. If you call them they will be able to tell you the areas of the city that they cover. You could also try Mothercraft- they were suggested to me but I have no experience with them.

Andrew Fleck maintains the centralized waiting list for every last regulated child care space in Ottawa, whether home care or centre-based care. If you're looking for regulated care, therefore, you must go through them.

If you are looking for unregulated home care, try the Child Care Providers' Resource Network or Kijiji.

Hi crocus

I can ask around for you, as I work in Westboro. Mothercraft would be your destination for licensed home childcare, they also have a respite/ part time child care program (which is quite rare in this city!) and full time toddler day care, although probably with waiting lists.

FYI- Most of the non-profit childcare centres are fighting against "wee watch" as it is an example of corporate "big box" child care.

Good luck

As I said already, you MUST be on the centralized waiting list for ANY regulated care in the city. Including Mothercraft. Call Andrew Fleck to get help with registering.

daycare in ottawa

My daughter (16 months) is at the Parkdale Montessori school, they opened a toddler room this year. I know they have a waiting list, but perhaps you could try there. I'm very happy with the program. I did check out Mothercraft, but it is a long wait to get in, and it is hard even for respite care.

This is a tough area for daycare as there are a lot of kids.
