Hi,
I am new to the forum and am putting out a request for new mom's and babies in Richmond or Northern Virginia. Please see information below and let me know if you are interested.
Good morning,
My name is McKenzie Casad, I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. I currently work in Richmond, VA and have a private Psychotherapy practice on the side. I have a great interest in birth and postpartum depression and mother-infant connection. I recently started my second post-Master's training program in Infant and Young Child Observationat the Washington School of Psychiatry in D.C. My first 2 years of training was in Psychodynamic Psychotherapy.
As part of my current program, I am required to observe an infant (new born to 1-month) each week in the family home for the next two years. I will come into the home as an observer and not to consult, or give my opinion, or do therapy. While my program is in Washington D.C., I would like to find an infant closer to Richmond. The infant must be a new born (less than 1-month) or must be born in the next 2-months.
I am posting a letter below from the Washington School of Psychiatry to better explain the program. If this is something you could put up on your bulletin board or distribute to your clients I would greatly appreciate it, as I am in the process of looking for a mother and baby who would be willing to have me in their home.
Please contact me if you have any questions.
Respectfully,
McKenzie Casad, LCSW

WASHINGTON SCHOOL OF PSYCHIATRY
INFANT OBSERVATION CLASS
As part of a program that teaches about the development of infants and young children, we are looking for parents who are willing to have a student observe their baby. Participants need more than book knowledge. They need a chance to see and feel what it is really like for a baby and mother to grow to know each other. Fathers are also encouraged to participate when possible.
We would like each student to visit with a mother and/or a father and baby in
their home one hour a week for two years. There will be a small study
group where each student will be able to share his or her learning experience with
others doing the same work. In this way, we hope to encourage our
students to develop a realistic appreciation and understanding of growth and
development.
Observers are not experts on babies. They are there to learn and to share experiences of what it is like to be with a young infant.
Thank you for your interest in this project. If you would like more information, please call one of the seminar leaders listed below.
