Although I don't attend this group, I thought this resource could be useful for some readers - or others you know - fairly inexpensive access to a good, AP friendly therapist:

The Support Group for Post Partum Depression and Anxiety meets every Friday from 11:00 to 12:00 at the Newtown Square Location of BirthMark (www.familybirthmark.com). The group is led by Susan Maroto, LCSW (www.therapywithsusan.com), a therapist who has a specialty in prenatal and post partum issues. The group provides an opportunity for women who are experiencing post partum depression and anxiety to come together, share their stories, and learn coping strategies.

Women who are interested in the group must pre-register and speak with Susan by phone prior to attending their first meeting so that Susan can obtain a brief history. The fee for the group is $15 per week. Receipts are provided upon request, and partipants can submit receipts to their health insurance company for reimbursement.

Partipants are asked to commit to attending 4 consecutive weeks of group meetings. We certainly understand that emergencies or illness might prevent attendance; those things can and do happen. In general, however, people tend to benefit more from a group in which the same people come every week. Relationships and trust are established, people feel more comfortable sharing personal stories and issues, and a better sense of group cohesion develops.
