Progressing....update

Just got back from my midwife app't. I am 4cm, 80% effaced, zero station and my plug was on it's way out during exam.(I was 3cm, 50-60% effaced last week) I am progressing, just as I expected. The midwife didn't think I would make it 2 more weeks, not even sure if I would make it one more week. She said she wouldn't be surprised if I had a 2 hour labor. I can not have a water birth before 37 weeks(stupid hospital policy), but I can labor in water. She said that as the baby is coming out they will let the water out. So, maybe they will be really slow at letting the water out.

It looks like I will have an October baby.

How exciting! I hope you have a very smooth birth.

That's pretty darn exciting! I'm not doing internals so I have no clue where I stand, but yours sounds pretty promising and a 2 hour labor sounds wonderful. Good luck and keep us posted!

I am so jealous too!! I feel bad wanting my baby to be early because I know that preemies (even later preemies) can have various issues - but it would just be so much easier if the baby came before we move rather than after (wouldn't have to switch midwives/hospitals, find someone else to watch the kids, etc.)

So what kind of signs did you have that you might be progressing? I assume your mw doesn't usually do internals this early so you must have suspected something?

Why do I bother - all 3 of mine have been LATE so I'm sure this one will be, too! LOL

Last week I was in L&D for a night. I just knew I was dilating, don't ask me how I knew, I just knew. So, I had a couple checks when I was in the hospital. Last Friday night, I had some hard, irregular, contractions and lots of pressure. Soon after that, I noticed my belly looked lower. So, I asked to be checked again today. I know, it is not good to be checked all the time, but I needed to know. Also, I am in an OB/GYN office and the mw is a CNM. I have to birth in a hospital for various reasons.

My first labor was 6 hours. And I was 4cm, 80% effaced about 1-1/2 weeks before giving birth. Being at this point already with my 2nd, I can not imagine it will be long.

So, bags are bagged and near the door. We still don't have a girl's name picked out. We have 2 boys names. Everyone thinks we are having a boy, so I am praying we are. B/c I don't know what we are going to do if we are having a girl.

Whoo hoo! Another baby on the way! I'll be watching for the announcement!

I'm a teeny tiny bit jealous too, but I won't be 37 weeks until after Halloween, so I need to wait!

Good luck mama!!!! And way to follow your intuition!!!! Sending ELVs your way!:

They don't allow babies to be born in water at my hospital either, so the midwife just has the mama stand up/supported squat for the final push or two, then back into the water!

Congrats on the progression!

I was 3cm for a long time with my second baby -- finally getting to 4 near the end, but had a long labor still.... Weird, I know! This time I'm 80% effaced but just a fingertip dialated... I'm almost 38 weeks now.

Sounds like it will be soon for you!!!

Baby is still in belly. I am napping 1-2x/day and keeping the baby quiet. I have mixed feelings, I am ready to have this baby out, but I know that everyday he/she is in there it is really better for him/her. And he/she will be considered premature before 37 weeks.

Sometimes, I think I am in control, by resting a lot b/c it keeps cxs to a minimum. Then, I remember that I am not. Bedrest is lifted at 36 weeks(next Friday). Not sure if I will walk to get things going or not. I don't think it will take much though. Today, I feel like I am just sitting here waiting. Gotta go find something to do.

Keep her in there as long as possible to avoid the NICU! How about some Sudoku. I find that I get engrossed in the puzzles and can lose lots of time there!

No, but I am surprised at how tired I am when I nap. Major deep sleep. I am having some cramping today. And I haven't had much of that lately. Had a soft bm too.
