I want to shop for my daughter for Christmas. I asked her what she would like and she said an easy bake oven and maybe the tv chef barbie. When I was her age, I loved to play with barbies and dollhouses. We went to toys r us last week and we saw the loving family dollhouse all set up. The first and only thing she had to say about it was WOW! So I asked her if she would like the dollhouse for Christmas and she says something like if you want me to. So I have no idea what to do and I'd love to get a list of ideas of things she might like to play with.

This book feels good in your hands. The paper is heavyweight, and the illustrations flow perfectly.

What does she like to play with now?
My daughter's close to that age and she really loves Littlest Pet Shop, art supplies, her scooter, stuffed animals, her magic set, board games, and puppets. But every kid is different. What types of things does she enjoy?

Does she do puzzles, read books, dress up in old clothes, any of that stuff? Is she more interested in "let's pretend" or in projects like building stuff or crafts? I'm sure she does something for fun!
Her requests sound like maybe cooking's an interest -- in addition to the EZ Bake, she might like a kid's cookbook, like Pretend Soup (which is AWESOME).

eta: She once had a dora playhouse and littlest pet shop set but she decided she didn't want them anymore so we gave them away. It could be because her room is small as it is and she didn't like trying to pick up all the pieces.

My dd LOVES those really BIG coloring books. They have some really nice ones at the fancy toy stores (but they do have the disney ones at toys'rus/target) for under $20. We got her one with a package of markers, and she was in heaven. They are very detailed and can take many days to finish one picture!
And I feel for you; my ds doesn't ever want anything either. I never know what to get him for gifts! Although he does like to pick out his own things with gift cards.

premo! sculpey clay (available at michael's and other craft places)
is easy, not messy, and fun. you can make beads, sculpt animals, or jsut about anything. bakes in about half an hour. its pretty cheap too!
michael's has lots of great craft kits too. much cheaper than toystores. things like make your own birdfeeder, dreamcatcher, knit your own scarf etc
she might be ready for card games too. uno, old maid, crazy8s, etc
and if its something you need, something like this

to help keep her new toys in place!

Just bumping this up to see if there are any more great ideas!
I have a 6 yo daughter too, and I'm feeling a bit stumped so far this year. She loves animals and wants a vet kit, but the ones I've found online look exactly like the Dr. kit she already has, they just have a picture of a dog on the box. She also likes her little webkinz, and she wants another little stuffed dog that she saw that comes with a house. Besides that though, I don't know.
Also, just wondering what you all think of the EZ bake oven? Does it actually work? Can you make your own mixes? I'm clueless as I've never seen or tried one, but I think dd would really like it!

akmeg, my daughter has the Parents Magazine vet kit, and she's played with that probably more than any of her other toys. Big, big hit. It has little stuffed animals and cages you can lock them in at your vet hospital, with a big key ring, plus all the usual thermometers and pet food and stethescope.

She's seven, and she still gets it out and plays with it a lot.

I like the big coloring book idea, and my kids can never have enough playsilks.
My 6.5 yo dd uses her hole puncher, tape roll, brass fasteners, stapeler, envelopes and crayons all the time. She makes books, writes letters and poetry.

My 6.5 year old dd is getting a mountain of books (she's an addict
), some figurines (the only toys that she really seems to use), and an ipod shuffle.
