Sponge Bob and vaccines..

Nick was on when I turned the tv on and I really think they are poking fun at vaccinations and make believe epidemics.

I'll post after the episode.

BTW, for the west coast its on right now.

So, it just ended.
It was hilarious.
It started when his snail bit someone, and they started asking if he was vaccinated. SB said no for "mad snail disease" basically everyone started worrying about an epidemic and contracting it. Showed the media exciting everyone too.

At the end the doctor said that this was just "mass hysteria" there was no epidemic.
I guess we need doctors like this in real life, eh?

What do you think the writers were trying to say with this episode? The vaccinations they mentioned were funny,.. The vaccine for "teen angst".
I've noticed SB does quite a few shows like this, I've seen two on health care.

Anyone else see it? And even if you didn't what do you think about this message to children?

I don't watch SB since I don't have cable. I can say I will look at him differently now after your comment! I think there has been more and more hints in various programs lately.. and not everyone will "get it". I think people are choosing sides now that some more powerful voices are speaking out. I was just saying to myself I need to go back and read on MDC because the women and men on this board have similar views to my family and it helps not being alone~

We watch nick at night and so it was on that channel from the night before and when I heard "vaccinated" like three times in a row it caught my ear.

I always thought SB was stupid but my husband watches cartoons sometimes and a few episodes have had a lot of grown up themes.
Like the health care episode, they didn't know what to do since they couldn't go to the doctor, no insurance and not enough money.

I dont really see many children catching on to these themes though..

I definitely think SB is a show for adults, not kids. Adults can get the jokes, but kids just get zombied-out and their brains turn to mush. But seriously, I think I may have read that it started out as a show for adults??? I'm probably making it up though.

The few times I've watched it with my 11 yo. grandson (who gets every joke and suggestion btw) I thought it was geared more toward grown-ups. I like it! And I am glad someone has the nerves to put some subliminal messages out there that are imho pro-people not pro-pHARMa.
Takes guts!

I've always thought the writers of Sponge Bob were :

:

I swore up and down I wouldn't let my kids watch that show because Sponge Bob's laugh annoys me and I kind of think the show is more for stoned teenagers (that was when I watched it all the time, when I was a stoned twenty-something) but they like it. What can you do?

I thought the suds episode was more pro-doctor, though.
