This is Dany's husband posting at her request here:
Our baby was born at home this morning at 8:37 am. We had decided not to find out the gender in advance, so I was the first to find out that we have a baby boy and we named him Mars.
There had been regular bouts of STRONG pre-labor contractions that would last a few hours and then disappear for an hour since late Monday. So by last night, neither of us had had much sleep and were exhausted (she obviously much more so). Contractions started up even stronger about 12:30 this morning and by 3:30 we decided it was time to call the midwife. Midwife arrived before 4am and we discovered that my wife was already at 7cm. It took about another 4 and a half hours until I got to catch our boy as he was born.
Our midwife was amazing and I am so glad my wife asked me to consider an at home birth this time. Mars is healthy and HUNGRY.
Mother and baby are resting now, and she may hoepfully get a chance to come back to this thread and update it with details in the next few days. She just wanted me to drop a quick note for now on her behalf.
P.S. Sorry for the near empty original post - I am not used to this forum set up and couldn't find a delete post button, so it had to wait while I edited it to include the actual post. :P
