DD got sick from someone else's flu shot!

I'm pissed off. I watch my nephew and he seemed to be out of it this past Mon/Tues/Wed with increasing moodiness and crying and whining and then on Wed he actually had a fever...or was it Tues. Now I don't remember exactly, but he was a BEAR all week and then his dad says, "Oh, yeah! he had the flu shot! that's why he's cranky"...

excuse me!??! Don't you think he should have TOLD me that he was bringing his child into my home with viruses sluffing off of him...and now, oh and I know it's only coinsidently, my DD has a fever and feels horrible, tummy hurts, whole nine yards...coinscience!?!? I think not!

what should I do? Tell him that he has to do his bloody shots Friday afternoon so that his kid can be 'cranky' with him all weekend? and not with me and my kids during the week so that they/we get sick?

or am I just loosing my mind and my DD can't get sick from someone else's flu shot.

I don't think your DD can get sick from your nephew's flu shot -- as long as it was the shot and not the nasal mist. BUT your LO CAN get sick from whatever crap your nephew picked up at the doctor's office while he was getting said shot.

yeah, the shot is a dead virus, the flu mist is a live virus (Army made my DH get flu mist : luckily neither I nor my 6 week old son got sick from it). It is more likely something he picked up at the doc's office from some other kid who was sick.

ITA...something else he picked up at the office...Flu is generally respiratory and does not involve an upset tummy (except from possible post nasal drip)

Hope your DD feels better soon

Thats why anyone that gets a flu shot is not allowed around my kids for 2 weeks. They may not get sick from the flu shot itself, but everyone I know seems to pick up some sort of "bug" afterwards. I don't want to deal with a cold if I don't have to....

How old is the nephew? Flumist is the common "flu shot" in some areas. This one is the live one that can shed.

Was at Costco the other day and they had a flu shot table set up. They ask one guy as he passed if he wanted a flu shot. He replied NO! and that every time he has gotten the shot he got the flu. LOL
