I will be visiting my parents for a month (they live in Beverly Hills), and was looking for advice on good playgrounds, playgroups, or even meet ups while i am there (dec-jan).

Thanks!

That's funny.Ialso will be visiting my in-laws in Beverly Hills for thanksgiving. Wish I could help. But in my experience it's a VERY retiree centered area.

I was raised very near Citrus Co. (Sumter Co.) and yes, mntnmom is right...it is very retiree. Very conservative, also.

I've never been to Beverly Hills, so I can't say much for that area, but I can say that there is a reason I actually moved to Scotland (go figure, lol) when I was 19...I couldn't stand living over that way anymore. I was too "weird" for that part of Florida. When everyone around you is either retired or wearing a cowboy hat, and you're a vegetarian who wants to travel the world, you don't make many friends, sadly.

Now, there are some pluses, of course. Crystal River Beach is in, well, Crystal River and is a very nice beach for those who want to get away from beaches with big crowds. And Inverness is a cute town to visit...it has some nice parks. There is a little restaurant/bakery in Inverness called Cinnamon Sticks that is very popular (and very yummy!).

Wish I could be of more help! Enjoy your visit!

Oh! I just thought of something! There is actually a postpartum doula trainer in Beverly Hills, named Betsy Schwartz. She is an amazing person, very natural/alternative-minded (she's from up North originally), and she has an extensive resource list for parents...she probably will know where you can find some playgroups/meet-ups. Here is her website: www.tenthmonth.com
