Can we talk homemade lotion recipes? - Page 2

mayo emulisifies b/c the egg yolk emulsifies with oil. the blender isnt an emulsifier. i was just curious, is all.

microbial growth can be odorless and not visable...if you're putting it on your kids, i'd put it in the fridge, but whatever you're comforable with is all that matters.

ya i know, but its sooo important for a reminder. thanks. i just store it in the fridge and make small batches. prolly half what this recipie calls for. i dont know what to say about the emulsifier, it blends into a really nice lotion very thick and creamy without one. and stays that way. no droplets of oil coming out or anything.

well, no it isn't...it may appear to emulsify, but it won't last...it will separate.

Can you use coconut oil? I just used plain old coconut oil on the kids and I last year and it worked amazing.

I'm a big fan of coconut oil. I use it on my very dry skin when it needs a little help. Covering with cotton afterwards (socks/sleeves) seems to seal in the moisture well and I haven't had a problem with overdrying.

I'm dying to try making a lotion/body butter though... that's next on my list of crafty things.

I spritz rosewater on, then pat coconut oil on top (before rosewater dries). Terrific softness and moisturize is the result!
