Over on the Twlight thread we started having a little side discussion on the Gemma Doyle trilogy by Libba Bray. I thought the books deserved their own thread...

Yup! I just finished number 3 and I have to say it has taken me a while to get over the ending. But I loved that bit about Felicity! *wink wink*

Such great books! I bought the first one but got the last 2 from the library but I am going to buy them. I have 3 daughters and these are the type if books I'd like them to read. Well, I'd like them to read whatever they could get their hands on but I want them to see such strong female leads even in YA fiction and fantasy to boot.

I had no idea it was a trilogy. What's the third one called? I loved the first two!

Oh, I didn't find this thread til now! Thanks for starting it, because I do want to see if anyone has recs for other similar books to read... especially with such strong characters, exactly.

That Felicity bit made me laugh b/c I was so proud basically the same twist in the book I'm writing In fact, I have to stop myself from rereading this trilogy because I think Bray and I are on the same page so much, I don't want to be over-influenced by her work as I write!

I hope these stay classics. It seems like other series get a lot of attention but the word of mouth on these was good enough to make me buy the first one (hoping to add it to my classroom library), and keep reading just for myself. I can't wait for Bray's Going Bovine to come out, although it will be very different

What a great trilogy. I was sad when the third one ended because I didn't want to say goodbye to them.

I am almost half way through the first book, which I picked up because of this thread!

I'm not sure how I feel about it yet.
