This isn't lying, right??

I am opening a dayhome and will be part of an accredited dayhome association due to numerous benefits. On the application I have to fill out it asks for the name, gender, and birthdate of my child, and then says "Immunizations up to day? YES NO"

My three-month-old has not had any vaccines. We re currently in the delaying category until such time that I am convinced that they are safe and effective. This may or may not ever happen.

So... its not like she is behind on any vaccines. We are fully up to date on the zero vaccines we have planned on giving her to this point. That would make my answer to the question as YES..... right?

It's not like the question is "Has your child been given all the vaccines on schedule as recommended by the Canadian Pediatric Society?" (or whoever actually publishes that thing). Then my answer would be entirely different.

I am completely comfortable in me decision (although I continue to research) but I just hate confrontation and don't want it to become a big thing. I also live in a province (Alberta) that does not require any vaccines to attend school. And really, if some kid had measles or something I would send them home, whether my child was vaccinated or not.

So... it's not a lie.... right??

I run a dayhome and am with an accredited agency in Alberta, and they haven't queried me about vax since my initial paperwork in 2001. ETA I've had 2 children born since then and no one has ever asked me if they are vaxed.

I would just check "yes" and carry on. You may want to let parents know at interview time that you are open to families who do delayed/no vaxing.

Have they required that you have a tetanus booster yourself? I remember going to get one, but it never occurred to me back then to question the requirement and I don't know if the agency would have a problem with that.

Nope, nothing about tetanus. I need references, my development permit, criminal check, home safety audit... but nothing mentions tetanus.

If they ask, maybe I will just tell them I am "up to date" on that too!

Thanks for the very relevant insight!
