Anybody vaccinate, then have seconds thoughts... or...eh..

This may sound confusing. (it should be I am!)
My DS is 3 1/2. He's severely speech delayed. He's been evaluated twice and so far no autism diagnosis, he's very loving, friendly, has great imaginative play. Anyway! We DID vaccinate him. He's not had any vaccines since he was 2 and since that time I've done more researching on vaccination links to delays etc. and am now thinking if I even vax our next child I'll do delay vax. But I'm not sure where I stand on DS getting more vaccines in the future because I'm wondering... well... So of course he just started a new preschool and I had to give them our vax records, waddya know, he's missing a Hep B vaccine and must get it asap or he can't go back. HE LOVES HIS NEW PRESCHOOL. So, I was thinking as of now maybe I could get an exemption until I'm sure... But in Alaska vaccine exemption is not allowed for personal reasons. Only medical or religious.
Any advice, input? Thanks.

OUr grandson was vaccinated up to 18 mo. , saw negative results, stopped vaccinating altogether and have since then researched every aspect of the issue. There is NO WAY we would inject any more poisons into any one of us.

We do not belong to any organized religion nor to any church. We have a religious exemption for school which is akin to a personal exemption. It is our stance that vaccines are not a part of our personal religion. No questions were ever asked.

Our grandson is 11 yo. now and healthy. Two other grandchildren have received absolutely NO vaccines and never will.

It's okay for your religious convictions to change over time. My 1st child is partially vaccinated (I'm sure she's "behind" by now, she's 4 and we stopped more than 2 years ago) but I would use a religious exemption if I needed it (we've got philosophical here in TX). My 2nd is unvaccinated and will stay that way--there are a lot of other things to do to keep us healthy, the more I learn, the more I realize that there are tons of things to help the kids stay healthy.

I went against my gut instinct and fully vaxed my DD until she was two. I haven't seen any negative reactions. But after doing a lot of research, I decided that vaccinations aren't for us. To say I had second thoughts is an understatement. I bawled my eyes out with guilt, to tell you the truth, and wish I'd listened to my gut all along.

I think she was current on everything required at her preschool. But for kindergarten, I filed a religious exemption, and it was the easiest thing in the world.

We vaccinated DS1 up to the 18 mo visit, at which point he had a reaction to the MMR. (it was a rash, high fever things--103 + fever not TOUCHED by motrin, it was scary, and we took him to the dr and asked if it could be a reaction & they said no, def NOT, a reaction would be a raised red thing at the site of injection, that this was just a coincidental viral thing but just which viral thing they were stumped on : Anyway, I digres...) He is developmentally typical & totally healthy, but we stopped vaxing and switched Drs at that point. I was uncomfy about it anyway by then & the reaction was the turning point in my brain. DS2 was born (at home) a few months later and has not been touched by any of the vaxes yet. When we took DS1 in for his 2 yr well baby and DS2 in for his newly born visit, our new DR took a look at the chart and told us the ones DS1 'needed' at which point we told her we were skipping them, and 'delaying' DS2 as well. So far we have not un-delayed.

Anyway, perhaps not helpful in a legal sense, but wanted to chime in with some personal experience of someone who started then stopped.

see this thread on speech delay

As autism is now known as Autism *Spectrum* Disorder, I do not think Dr. Megson's conclusions on vitamin A and speech delay are solely exhibited in autistic kids but are applicable to all sufferers of apraxia. I think it just depends how many insults the body undergoes in order to result in "autism" per se. So the ASD community has a lot to teach us mamas of NT kids with speech or digestive problems. And the most of which is the wisdom and guidance of knowing exactly how vaccines effect the body.

We have a religous exemption and I'm grateful to live in a state that grants it unequivocally and simply with no explanation beyond a written statement required.

Hi,
I understand your concerns....Just don't fool yourself into thinking that since he's past the age of usual onset that autism can't happen. My son did not regress into autism until AFTER his kindegarten round of shots. He wasn't diagnosed as ASD until 7 years old. At five, I just figured it was too late for anything to happen to him. I was completley wrong.

I'd go for the religious if you have any doubts...I mean, is it worth any type of possible vaccine damage for a Hep B shot right now??? Unless he's having sex in preschool or shooting up, there is very little chance he could be at risk for this.
