S/O, stolen signs

Thread Starter
I read the other thread about businesses putting up political signs and it made me think about an issue we are having here.

My neighbors put out signs for a candidate that is not very popular in my neighborhood. There were many more signs supporting the other candidate. Within two days, both yard signs were gone. Same with the signs I see at intersections; one day there will be both parties, the next only one. I understand that these signs are on public property (well, really county property) so I suppose anyone can take them down or put them up at will. IMO neither party should be allowed to put them on public property, but that is really here nor there.

I am disgusted by this. No matter who you support, you should not steal the other parties signs. What are we? 13 (and really, I would love to blame some teenaged hoodlums on this and not grown people, but I fear it is angry adults in this case!)? I know some people who have had bumper stickers peeled off cars too. Why would you do that? Is this happening where you are to one or both parties? I want to put out a sign too, but I am afraid it will either get stolen or my house will get egged.

I have heard reports of this also. I also have put up a sign for a candidate who is decidedly unpopular in my neighborhood, and have noticed that signs like mine have been vandalized. Interestingly enough, I have NOT heard of signs for the other candidate being stolen or vandalized. I think says a lot about those voting for the other candidate.

If I found out my kid was out vandalizing or egg-throwing, he'd be at the victims' doors the next day repairing, cleaning, and praying those people are less angry with him than his parents. I wish other people in my neighborhood felt the same.

I've seen them! I've caught them! lol Well, not actually "caught" them but caught them in the act.

It's actually an adult driving teens around our neighborhood. Sad to say the least.

Oh, and after having my car and stickers destroyed umpteen times, I switched to magnetic ones. lol That doesn't stop them from keying my car or stripping the tire valves though.

People have too much anger.

Ditto to both!! Luckily my mom hasn't had hers stolen(yet), but it's been on the news(the not so popular candidate) having signs stolen off of people's lawns. Can you imagine being so bold and removing or trashing someone's property? Only one word describes it, FANATIC. If they win or lose, I'm sure we will see more "fanatic" type of crime pop up, it's scary.

There has been a problem in our area with various sign thefts, even resulting in an arrest in a nearby town.

I think that, regardless of your position or political views, you ought to have the decency to leave other peoples' signs alone. What a shame that some folks resort to such tactics.
