I bought a fitted jean jacket at a consignment shop today - I love it and couldn't resist it, even though it's an XL and I normally wear a M.
I'm thinking there must be some way to alter it. I know I could take it to a tailor, but I would like to avoid spending fifty dollars to alter my 20 dollar new jacket. I can sew, but I have no idea where to even start.
The jacket has embroidery on the back, and instead of buttons, is held together by two hook & eyes at mid-bust level. It does seem to be slightly shaped at the waist. It's not a fitted article of clothing and I think if it were just taken in at the sides and maybe a little under the arms, it will be fine.
any advice or online tutorials anyone can point me to? Or should I simply suck it up and take it to a tailor?
