Parasite Cleanse

Thread Starter
I posted a few months back, but no-one answered - perhaps now somebody will!

Do any of you have experience with a parasite cleanse while BF'ing? I have used a wonderful parasite cleanse from a local Herbalist successfully in the past, but I am almost a 100% sure that something in it was/is contraindicated when BF'ing.

Anyone?

Interested in this too. I had a parasite test come back equivocal, so my ND wanted to go ahead and treat for it. She said the standard treatments aren't good for BFing, so she gave me an EO (ingested) treatment to try. Then I saw that 2 of the oils are things that DD is allergic to... So I'm wondering about other options.

There is some talk on the CSS thread about this right now too.

I would use homeopathy first. I just had someone go through that and homeopathy did mobilize quite a bit.

Most herbs used for parasite cleanses aren't safe for breastfeeding moms.

Firefaery,

Two questions:

1. When you say mobilize... Do you mean that it just helped the body mount a successful response against parasites? Or do you mean that it actually helps expel parasites? I think I might loose it a little if I saw parasites in my poop.

2. Is there a general remedy to try for parasites, or is this something we'd need to go to a homeopath and have a remedy tailored to us?

I am so tempted to use emoticons to illustrate the abovementioned parasitic party...

Just curious....if you HAVE parasites and you TREAT them, isn't the logical course of events that you will then EXPEL them? Where else would they go? I wonder if I'm missing something...

You might check into Morinda... we're using it as an all around boost. Its effective for some intestinal parasites...

Well, some are microscopic... And others, the, um, visible ones, I guess I hope that your body kills them and then breaks down the bodies? Ugh, that gross too, but I just really don't want to see a toilet full of worms, ya know? I know that anti-helminthes will actually expel them full body and gross right from your booty. I suppose if my choices are having parasites inside me OR treating for them, expelling them and then having to see them in the toilet a few times, I would choose the later. But it might cure me of my looking before I flush habit. Oh man, this post is so grossing me out. I can handle just about anything traditionally gross but worms inside me make me want to cry just thinking about them.

This is going to sound whacky and those that know a lot please feel free to say just how whacky this is but....

I've been doing some reading in alternative lyme forums and one of the treatments people talk about is salt/c and they say it works on parasites. Sounds like hooey to me but I thought I'd throw it out there so those that know can dispel the myth.
