My lips hurt

Thread Starter
I don't think they are chapped. They just hurt a lot and are very sore to the touch.

I have tried lots of mainstream junk I have around the house. Carmex, blistex ointment and regular lip balm, as well as vaseline, and I tried doing nothing.

But they still hurt. And it has been going on for days.

Any suggestions?

Something with a lil bit of peppermint oil in it always makes my lips feel better. I am very, very picky about chapstick. Most chapsticks feel like just a film of gunk to me.

Could you be dehydrated? My lips get burn-y and sore when I am.

A few years back I seem to have developed a contact allergy to peppermint- which is in burts bees and MANY other chapsticks.

Took me awhile to figure out...

i think you need to stop putting stuff on your lips. The more stuff you use the more your lips need it. It's a vicious cycle

Could easily be a food allergy or too much caffeine. It sounds like a problem inside your lips more than on the surface.

Sunburned possibly? I like to use sunflower oil on my lips. Anything else ends up causing them to feather and peel.

an allergic reaction ot wind burn? those things happen to me and my lips hurt/string for days. no amount of chapstick seems to help in that case. benedryl seems to be my only hope if it's a bad reaction. however for chapstick I'm a huge fan of burts bees peppermint.

definitely hydrate if that is part of the problem...

for tube balms, I love Weleda and burt's.

Otherwise, I use coconut oil! Works well and no worries about injesting a bit.
