"Cover"-ed Girls! - Page 54

I'm here, covering more and more while I try to sort out personal and religious issues and figure out where I'm headed.

Total find at Target...

Triangle-shaped faux-Hermes scarves for $14.99.  There was an olive/khaki one and a white one w/ a black design.

Worked great for a Turkish-looking hijab.  I'm sure they'd work for others who cover as well.

I somehow missed this and this is a few months behind the times, but I second Target. I've found some really great scarves there that are big enough to use for covering. Some of them were on clearance for really cheap too!

Does anyone know a reasonable cost place to find large square scarves bigger than 45" by 45"? I've been messing with a new style that is really easy for me to do without access to a mirror, but my square scarves aren't quite big enough.

Thanks~

Al-Mujalbaba has 60" - http://www.al-mujalbaba.com/categories/Women/Hijabs-%26-Khimars/Georgette-Hijabs/

They're synthetic but very summer friendly, plus the bonuses of wrinkle resistant and easy to clean.  They're a little slippery, even the pebble georgette, so an underscarf helps.

They don't seem to have a lot of color choice right now, but Sunnah Style sells 56" and 66" square scarves in a nice, soft material -- http://www.sunnahstyle.com/index.php?cName=hijabs-square&osCsid=3ooa858rdfqc8vn6garobreqv0   They also have larger sized rectangles, if you're interested in scale more than shape.

Thanks! I think the scarf I have is a Georgette. I normally wear it with the underscarf part of a cotton Amira, which seems to work well. I'll have to try to order a larger one when I get funds - maybe I'll get lucky and find one at our thrift shop for a little less.

New hijab cap styles are in at Middle Eastern Mall!

I love love love these tube-style hijab caps. I have just ordered three for my Chrismukkah stocking. They are a great option for people who practice modified hijab or standard Christian covering, and people like me who occasionally want to be visibly frum, and more often just don't wash their hair every day ;-)

Here's a very attractive photo my husband took of me putting on moisturizer, wearing a cotton tube hijab cap.

I looked at Smithy's pic and thought "wow, that looks cool!" and the I got sidetracked by the snoods and decided to order two of those instead. I ordered this: http://www.middleeasternmall.com/snood-hijab-caps-white-p-3483.html

and this:http://www.middleeasternmall.com/snood-hijab-caps-black-p-3484.html

and they look really bad on me, lol. They really are cut and shaped to be worn low across the forehead and under a scarf, hijab style. Is there anyone here that might want these? Free to the first bidder. ;)

I just ordered one of those snoods too! I'm really excited to get it.

any of you know where to find camis/tanks that have a high neckline (i.e. closer to crew neck)? i am having an awful time. i have some v-neck tops that need an underlayer; for now i wear a long sleeve undershirt, but i could extend my wardrobe and wear these on warmer days if i had good camis.

Kangamitroo, have you seen this?   https://www.asseenontv.com/cami-secret/detail.php?p=304206&v=clothing_womens   That looks like it might be pretty easy to replicate that way you could make it as long as you want.

Onyx if you like the snoods and want two more of them let me know.

This is how I always wear my scarf, sometimes just a smaller one tied in the back, bit now I really want some crocheted snoods......I wish I knew how to crochet more than a line...duh.gif

I own several hijab caps that have a similar line to that snood thingie. Wytchywoman is right, they really are intended to be worn low on the forehead transtichel.gif I'm very obsessive about showing some "front hair," because I don't want people to think I have cancer. Because then they'll cry, since I have three small children hanging off me.

Maybe it's just the kind of day I'm having, but this made me laugh out loud, Smithie. Not sure if you intended it that way, but thanks!

I have seen fake bangs that you can wear.

I always leave my bangs hanging out when I cover.

On a side note- I REALLY need to learn how to do this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mcfXEBMYHpk

Cami secret is fracking BRILLIANT !

I ordered a snood cap from middle eastern small which is totally gorgeous but doesn't fit. greensad.gif Very sad. I just have too much hair for snoods and need to just give up the idea...

I also like to show a little hair so people don't think I have cancer..... I stay away from the turban look for the same reason. Also as the day goes you can always tell if it's been a long one because more and more hair starts to show through and by the end of it I have all these crazy hairs sticking out all over the place.

what will they think of next? that is a clever idea—though with my luck there would be many slip-ups and accidents with such a "garment."

sahmof2, i love the way you wear the scarf in your photo. i tried to pull that off and it gets all tumbly on me. will have to try again. i like it because, with my short hair, the scarf makes me feel like i have a giant pile of hair in a bun.

It has to be a heavier scarf, I have short hair too.  the silkier ones always slide, so I can only wear them tied in the back, no bun.

Hi, I'd love to wear snoods, veils, scarves, kerchiefs out of modesty, especially now that my husband will be away for work for a long time. But any time I try to wear ANYTHING on my head it falls off in minutes and I'm fussing with it endlessly if I do manage to keep it on. Help me learn to make it work? I have long-ish thick hair and usually just braid it first.
