So 5 weeks PP I went in to see my dr. I'd been feeling terrible, crying all the time, not feeling connected with DD, wanting to run away, feeling like I wanted to hurt myself and my DD, wishing I was still pregnant, etc. Just terrible. I got Wellbutrin and a two weeks after it was totally different, I felt so much better. My dr. also rec I see a therapist. Well the one she rec didn't take my insurance, then I called another group and they didn't have any therapist available that could see me any of the times that work for me (I just went back to work). I feel like the Wellbutrin isn't working as well anymore. I constantly terribly miss being pregnant and feel empty Has anyone had this happen - feel good and then get worse again? I need to get a therapist but it took so much effort for me to make the first two calls that I'm discouraged. I am also mourning leaving my daughter and going to work. This sucks.

My mom gave me this for Christmas and I absolutely love it. Gorgeous illustrations and very sweet ideas inside. Plus it's just structured enough so that I can be creative about what I include...

Feeling Bad Again

Well, I think that recover can take some time. I highly recommend reading This Isn't What I Expected, Combating Postpartum Depression. This book really helps describe the stages of recovery. I couldn't imagine recovering from ppd without therapy support. I'm sure some have done it but I couldn't. I am going to private therapy bimonthly and group therapy weekly.
I am going through some ups and downs and when I start to feel insecure about my recovery, I usually read my ppd books and pray.
Oh, and you may need to increase your meds. Or try some different medication.
Hugs,
Amy

I've had this happen too when my meds seemed to be working fine and then just stopped working as well. Now I'm changing meds.
You have some new life factors (going back to work, etc.) so some real NEW stressors. Maybe you're sensitive to these changes at the moment (if so, you're not alone there!).
Another vote for the book mentioned above which I also have.
Take care of yourself Mama, can you go back to your family doctor and talk about the meds and how you're feeling again?

Thanks mommies. i'm going to try really hard to find a therapist this week. And I'll look into that book. I hate feeling like this.

Please check out www.postpartum.net to see if there is a therapist in your area. Most will do a sliding scale for fees if you do not have insurance, and if you do have it, most of them will work with your ins. co. to get you in and get you treated.
