My dh and will be celebrating our 13th anniversary in January and I was thinking we can go on a little vacation. We have not been on a vacation together alone since our 3rd or 4th year of marriage, and we have rarely hired a sitter because of our dd's health issues and we just didn't think they were old enough for a sitter. So we have not been on very many dates since our oldest was born 7.5 years ago. This would be such a special thing. I want to surprise him with a nice place we can go. Our marriage is not in the best place right now and a lot of it is because we don't take the time to nurture our relationship. This would be a real boost.
His sister will be in the country (from India) and can watch the kids overnight for us.
Does anyone have any ideas about a place not too far from Phoenix area where we can drive to and spend the day, spend the night 
and drive home the next day? We can't go too far away but maybe something like Tucson or Payson or in-between. Too bad it will be in Jan, as the weather will be a bit cold. Maybe we can find a place with a hot tub. Oh yeah, and we will be on a budget-- no $300 hotel rooms, but a step up from Motel 6 would be nice- like a B&B maybe?
