NT- which recipes are good, which are bad? - Page 2

We like these (I usually simplify recipes though--usually reducing ingredients by leaving out fancy stuff and adding more flaors that we like)

stirfry stews (My son loves this and it is an easy way to get broth in)
coconut chicken soup (I add curry paste to it)
pot roast
No-tomato spaghetti sauce (People rave about this! I make it a lot when we have company)
Leek frittatta

Those are the ones I can remember right now that we make quite often and really enjoy. I can't use a lot of the recipes because of my food allergies but I still really like having the book handy. I am going to make the ginger carrots this week but I also use Wild Fermentation as a guide for that stuff because his methods seem to go well for me.
Like others I do use it for the information and basics (like broth, kefir, soaking nuts ect)

I like the Eat Fat, Lose Fat recipes a lot.

I have to go look at that recipe, I never tried it before and it sounds good.

There is some kind of chicken salad with peanut dressing, I can't remember the official name, but it was so amazing. We'll have to have that again soon.

The spaghetti squash casserole caused my husband to tell me dinner was inedible for the first time since I have known him, but it has to do with his severe dislike of squash. I thought the recipe was OK. I was figuring the other ingredients would hide the squash taste, but I was sadly mistaken.

I never use the recipes from the book anymore because of so much planning and ingredients that I cannot ever have on hand at one time...I am just not as talented as some of the others around here. But you can find it at Half Price Books or a comparable store. I have seen it there and it has good info in it.

I also LOVE the unsoaked basic rice. We make it several times a week. Probably our absolute favorite is the Sweet Potato Cookies. We substitute mini choc. chips for raisins. They are SOOO good! You'd never know they were good for you.

While we're talking about the recipes we really like...we LOVE:

-Spicy Meatloaf...this recipe actually made me like meatloaf, I've hated it for years.
-Sesame Buffalo Chicken Wings (we use the marinade on chicken thighs), we served this to some friends and everyone raved about it
-Basic Roasted Chicken
-Carrot Salad
-Lentil Pecan Patties
-Falafel
-Yogurt Dough (makes a great pizza crust)
-Basic Unsoaked Rice
-Ratatouile
-Sweet Potato Pancakes
-Roasted Carrot Puree
-Banana Bread (Zucchini Bread)
-Carrots Vichy
-Broccoli Timbales
-Chicken Liver Pate
-Carrot Cake - I really liked this recipe, but hated the frosting...I actually liked the frosting before I added all the honey it called for...it was waaaay too sweet
-Crispy Walnuts and Pecans
-Apple Cobbler
-Vanilla Ice Cream

I know there are more, but this is actually all I can remember off hand.

NT just plain fun to read!

I love making the basic muffins, Buckwheat pancakes, and then many of the lengthly or complicated recipes I just modify a bit. I also love having a reference on basic things like soaking grains and beans. I could literally sit and read NT all day!
