formula (for mom) questions

I talked to our ped about my rapid weight loss and the fact that we keep losing foods that were once safe, etc, and after talking about it we decided I could try the eo28 splash in addition to my current safe foods. But see, my insurance won't cover it and WIC doesn't have it. They do however, have a can of plain Neocate and a can of plain Elecare and offered them up to me as samples. So, I'm going to assume this is nasty unflavored. Is there anything I can do to make it any better?? I was thinking of just drinking 1-2 servings a day, sorta like slimfast or ensure or something. Any advice? Changing Seasons, I know you were drinking eo28 solely for awhile, do you have any goods tips for me? I feel like I'm in uncharted territory here....

A couple people told me that Neocate will send you a sample pack of the E028, so that might be a good first step- that way you can try it and make sure your LO doesn't react.

If you guys do ok with the orange-pineapple flavor, I can send you a case of mine (since we can't use it.) It actually tastes pretty good- like orange juice.

I thought about calling them for a sample, but um, I don't know what to say My DD is only 4 months, so shes not "old enough" to have eo28. Will they ask what I want it for??

ugh, I called and they want my ped to call instead, which I'm not sure they'll do for me....
Does the orange flavor one have real orange in it? I think shes sensitive to citrus....I'm not positive but I don't want you to waste your box....

I think drinking with a straw makes it taste less gross since it skips most of your tongue (we used to do this with gross beer in college when we wanted to drink it but not taste it.)

Well that's stupid. I thought someone around here had called themselves and Neocate sent them some. weird.

I don't think there's real orange in it. There are some other iffy ingredients though.. like the corn syrup, and sunflower oil, and some others. Here are the ingredients. I think that my experiment proved (for us, not necessarily for everyone) that it's a good formula probably for milk-allergic babes, but not for everything-allergic babes.

They have something on their website too where you can check out if your state has a reimbursement program.

hmmm, CS, it might be worth a try if you're willing to send it to me. I know theres a chance she might not tolerate it, but I need SOMETHING so its worth a try I think....
The corn syrup worries me, but I'm not sure how reactive she is to processed corn, I've read that its really refined in Neocate, but your DD didn't tolerate it well, right? I'm worried mine won't either, but I guess I won't know unless I try it...

Sure- PM me your address and I will get it off to you! And I will keep my fingers crossed that you guys tolerate it better than we did.
