I was planning on crocheting some leg & arm warmers for my kids this year, but I get the impression that knit is better for this (because it has more stretch), but I'm just a beginning knitter. I've seen pics of sock knitting machines -- they're basically like a mechanical knitting spool, right? Can I buy a knitting spool that I can make leg warmers on? I'm trying to google and not having much luck. I think I'm getting closer to what I'm looking for, but I thought someone here might be able to help out.
