It's been awhile since we had a crochet thread so I thought I'd start one..what's everyone working on? My current obsession is hats as I am in the process of transitioning from AZ weather to New England weather (brrr!) but I am also making tails and kitty hats for the kids Halloween costumes..

I have a few things going and a bunch more in line. I want to make gifts for Christmas. I have working right now a stuffed monkey and a stuffed pig. I would like to get a cupcake purse or two, play food, a bowling pin set and a few dolls done before the holidays.

I have almost no time for crocheting anymore. I tend to make things too hard for myself; even when I start what should be a simple project, I start messing around with it to make it better, & next thing I know it's exploded into something unmanageable. I'm working on a shrug & a skirt right now.

I'm making potholders (will be felted)... lets's see if I can find the pattern... Here.

I have some little crocheted toys to stuff & finish off, and I want to make soft blocks for the baby. I'll likely end up making leg & arm warmers in crochet for the kids, too.

i crochet and knit. i am currently knitting two projects - a hat and scarf, but also have a crochet project in the works. i am trying to follow a pattern for a star of david yarmulke, but the star does not look like a star yet and I am not sure if i am doing it right.

I just made a cupcake tonight using the bittersweet (can't remember?) blog pattern. Instant gratification, started and finished! It's really cute with the bead "sprinkles" in top.

I'm in the midst of:

A dress for my baby (have the bodice pieces done, working on the first sleeve)
A scarf for my mom
Fingerless mitts for me!
A round ripple babyghan for my baby (just have the edging and sewing in ends to do but I hate both and have successfully put them off for a very long time now! )

I have six pages in my Ravelry queue and 34 in my favorites (which is just a big extension of my queue). I can hardly crochet fast enough!!

I am desperatly trying to figure out how to crochet socks. I am a beginner beginner..but a quick learner. Can anyone lead me in the right direction. I want to make a pair of socks or maybe 3 to go together that all look similar but are not the same. The gift will come with a tag that says : "Lifes to short for matching socks"
I think its the cutest idea in the world and it made me take up crocheting, just to do it. I do not like knitting, I have already tried before. So do ppl not crochet socks very often, cuz I only see knit sock patterns.
Please help. Thank you!!

I am working on crocheting wool nursing pads right now. I'm also doing crochet food for trades, and some booties and hats for the baby. I'd like to do some little baby socks too, and my kids have asked for wool socks and well as some stuffed animals. I just don't have enough time even though I want to get them all done now!

You're right, people don't crochet socks very often -- crocheting tends to be bulkier than knitting and it doesn't have as much stretch, so it's not as good for socks.

I haven't actually tried or even looked at any of these patterns, but it's a page with crochet sock patterns:

Good luck -- that is a cute idea!

Brisen-thank you for that great insight. I understand now. Also thank you for the link. I actually found that one myself earlier...sometimes my google skills really lack. I mean how hard is it to google crochet socks?

Anyhow I dont really plan on anyone wearing the socks like regular ones. I just don't know anyone that wears fun, funky socks. But I was thinking they'd make warm and cozy slipper socks.

So when I said I was a novice, I meant it. I'm on my very first project right now. I started a big ol afghan. It's turning out nicely but I have had to fix several errors. But it's been perfect for a very repetitive learning project.

I'm working on a hat right now. I just finished a crocheted ball, though I could use a pattern for this if anyone knows one online; I think mine is a tad bumpy. I also just finished crocheting a dress for a small doll.

I finished up a hat for my ds3 the other week and am now finishing up a matching one for ds2 - it just needs trim, braids, and an applique.

Does anyone know of a good, easy mitten pattern? :

A batch of apple sweaters.

I both knit and crochet. I have two afghans that I need to finish before February. Which I should be able to do since they are both just need a couple border rows and all the ends dealt with. But first I want to make several bath puffs for holiday gifts.

Kodachrome I love the apple sweaters. Hmmm... May have to make one for myself.

takebackbirth This is my favorite crocheted sock pattern. Toe up so you can try them on as you go. http://crochetme.com/patterns/ultimate-crocheted-socks It's extremely adaptable.

INDIGO- Thanks for that link and referall. I am going to give them a shot. I am teaching myself the circular crochet as we speak. Actually I was on line the other night for a couple hours trying to learn all the different thing I could do. I still need more practice obviously. I am having a lot of fun and really enjoying this though. I think it will be something I stick with and do often. I'm almost done with my first afghan and not only is it lovely, but super cozy. So I'm happy.
I want to make potholders, mug kozies, kleen kanteen kozies, placemats and more blankets!

Glad I could help with the sock pattern.

Not doing much crocheting at the moment, trying to knit an XL men's sweater by the end of November - NaKniSweMo, should be interesting.

By the beginning of Dec, I'll be ready for a few crochet projects for a change of pace.
