Happy Hookers stop in here!! - Page 2

I'm going to crochet some rags rugs for Christmas. There is a sweater that I know my mom would love, but I just taught myself how to crochet and I think it might be way too hard as a first project.

Well I thought I wasn't getting anything done. I keep getting online and practicing different stitches to try them out. I was getting frustrated at now accomplishing any projects. Then it dawned on me that I had done a lot.
In three weeks of learning to crochet I've done a large afghan, a potholder, a coaster and now I'm on another afghan as a gift for Xmas and several potholders. Yay, I'm having fun.

I have not been able to accomplish socks. I figured they would be harder then I thought. I have not mastered crocheting in a circle yet. I really want to though. I have found a sock pattern that crochet's flat. I'm working on it but stopped for a few days.

Anyone else moving a long? I'm excited to have learned this. It's fun!

I do both knit & crochet, but I wanted to share my latest project, a prototype:

It fits better on a Sigg bottle, and it's too lacy to work perfectly, but it does keep the sweating down.

I am in the middle of a sweater for my husband (knit for NaKniSweMo) but I have a hankering for pulling out my hooks. I have 3 ideas brewing.

1. New Elf Hat for my son. My formula is on Ravelry here.

2. A cozy for my travel mug. It keeps things pretty warm, but the sides get hot.

3. Another dragon

Well I am officially a failure at socks. It was pretty funny actually. Once I get to the heel forget it. Maybe one of these days...

Well, I've been playing around with the crochet pattern for the sweater and I think I can do it. Now I need to find yarn. The yarn it calls for isn't really made anymore and uber expensive. I was trying to save money by making presents not spend $100 on yarn. I think I might use I love this yarn. I used it to make a scarf for a friend and I really liked it. There is a varigated color that I know my mom would love.

I ripped out the rug and I'm remaking it. Not sure if it's going to turn out any better this time or not. (The edges kept flipping up.) I do increases on the corners, but the sides are even kind of wavy. Part of it is that i work it on my lap with a 2yo climbing all over so I'm hoping when I actually lay it on the floor it will smooth out a bit.

I'm currently working on a pair of socks for my daughter for Christmas. I was hoping to get them almost done tonight, but I can't find the second page of the pattern!!!! I'm going to be really ticked if I have to go and buy the pattern again. I started a scarf for my mom for Christmas. I finally had to stop and give my wrist a break though. I did a whole lot of crocheting this spring and started getting pains in my wrist, so I had to lay off for a while. Now, I'm pretty careful about it.

ok, the sweater is a go! I just ordered more yarn. While my parents are on vacation this week I'm going to compare what I've done so far to one of my mom's sweaters so I know if I'm making it the right size.

I'm also working on a wrap for dd. Just a huge rectangle that she can play with/wear.

The blue jean rug turned out much better the 2nd time. Now I'm trying to figure out how to get more old clothes to make more rugs. They are pretty easy and fun. I'm hoping to get t-shirts so I can just cut them into loops and loop them together.

I just unearthed a mess of my grandmother's old Annie's Attic magazines from the 80's. Oh heavens! Some of the stuff in there could curl your hair But I found an adorable dress that I'm working up for a friend's daughter. I've got the bodice completely done, and am about half way done with the skirt.

I try to limit myself to one crochet project and one knit project at a time :

I found a 2nd hand store that throws away the clothes that don't sell. So Monday I'm stopping by to see what they have for me! I hope it's enough to make some rugs.

2inaugust-How did you make the blue jean rug? That sounds like fun. Also, do you have pictures, it sounds so cute, Id love to see it!

I'm currently working on a ripple afghan. I just need to finish it off. I haven't picked it up since I was pregnant with DD! I got the pattern out of my "I Taught Myself to Crochet" book. I'm currently teaching myself to crochet lol.

I just finished a scarf for a co-worker's daughter.

I'm nearly done with an Amigurumi hippo for my DS.

I'm abiut halfway through a mega-granny square afghan (also for DS).

I've made about 10 preemie blankets for the NICU at my work. (Using up all the extra baby yarn. I tend to overbuy when I have a project.)
