Help-CD making, where to start??

I may be asking questions that are answered in the FAQ's or Stickies, but I need personal help! I know what I want to make but I don't even know where to start. I can't find the supplies I need, and am not sure if the ones I've found are worth purchasing?! I want to make some OSFA pocket style diapers for my son (17mos) and baby on the way. One of my major problems is finding the supplies on ONE site! I'm going to end up paying so much in shipping costs its ridiculous! Any help would be much appreciated!

Well... there are several ways you could do this.

You could buy a kit to make one or two diapers.

Or you could go ahead and get the fabric and such you need, and if using a pattern a pattern also.

If I were to buy a kit I'd probably get it from KCK. I just bought lots of supplies to make diapers from Kids in the Garden. I'm very happy with their selection and prices. I was able to buy everything except my snap press and my pattern's and thread through them. Kids in the Garden has a yahoo group that you can join and it gives a discount code for the store, so that helps take some of the sting out of the shipping costs.

I bought pattern's from a couple places so I can try different styles.

I haven't received my fabric yet (just ordered last week) and I've never even attempted to make a cloth diaper before, so I may not be the best person to give advice. I just wanted to tell you what I did since I know how overwhelming it can be trying to figure out how to get started!

Good luck and happy sewing.

ETA: How funny! I just saw you mentioned your son is 17 mos, so is mine! And I'm getting ready to switch him to cloth and the new baby when he arrives. LOL.

Well, I went the frugal route and scrounged around my house and my mom's house for old t-shirts and flannel shirts, and used the free Rita's Rump Pockets pattern for my OS pockets. I also bought a couple of flannel sheets from Goodwill.

Just to let you know it doesn't have to be expensive to get started!

I would definitely look through the stickies for suppliers. There is a lot of info out there and the stickies give you an organized way of looking at things. At any rate, I also have a online shop that sells pre-cut, ready to sew diaper kits - DiaperKit.com
Welcome to diaper making!

Another vote for Rita's. I make a trip to the thrift store once in a while for flannel. And honestly, the diapers are easy to make and completely customizable.
