I have an idea and would love some input from anyone that cares to comment before I get all my supplies out and buy new snaps and everything.
I just got bluepenguin covers which I was planning to use with my old gerber prefolds, but I also ordered a bluepenguin prefold with snaps to see how it worked. I like it, but keep thinking it would be so much BETTER if the side panels of the prefold were stretchy. I know I have some thick cotton 3%spandex material somewhere and am thinking about making my own the same size and shape but with the side panels stretchy.
What do you think? Anyone tried this before? My biggest concerns at this point are the snaps damaging the knit fabric (I would plan to use plastic snaps, but I have to buy the die for that yet and the snaps) (could I sew on some woven fabric patches to stabilize the material?), and the stretchy material losing all stretch after a few hot washes and dries. (I have air-dried dipes in the past, but in my climate and especially this time of year that is not something I'm willing to suffer through.) (I have also cold/warm washed dipes in the past, but find that with mushy toddler poos that isn't really enough.)
Thanks!!
