I had a my daughter and was billed by the hospital for her being circumcised. Can a girl be circumcized? I am confused because I thought only boys could be circumcized.Any help would be great.

Female circumcision exists, however it is illlegal in the western world, so highly likely it was a mistake by the hospital.

That is ridiculous! My only guess is that they mistakenly put that on there. Call and have it removed. I wonder how many times this happens and they don't catch it?

Wow that sucks. At our hospital we stamp up a universal charge sheet with the circ'd baby's info on it and send it down to billing. The sheet was probably stamped wrong or if they are computerized all it takes is a click of the wrong button. I guess when they were processing it they didn't pay attention to the name on the sheet/screen (usually male or female so and so). That means some one out there didn't pay for their circ. I would call the billing dept and have them re submit the bill to your insurance. Did your insurance even question it?

If there's one mistake on your bill, there may be more. We found a few hundred dollars' worth of billing errors on our labor/delivery hospital bill. They were easy enough to challenge. Just call billing to get this charge removed, but do look over the rest of the itemized bill carefully!

At the hospital where I used to work, they made it very clear that an "error" of that sort (which would be suspected as fraud) could cost somebody's job.
On the plus side, at least they only accidently billed you for it - just think if you'd actually had a son, and they accidentally went through with the procedure!
