Help!!! Please!! Felt cutting questions!

I am going into my ds's school to make some felt pumpkin bags with his class. I would like the kids to cut out the pieces for their pumpkin face out of black felt, so they are all unique. I tried cutting felt with Ds's scissors and it didn't work. This is a group of 23 first graders with kids scissors. I also tried to use a hole punch to make holes at the top of the bag to tie ribbon to for the handle. That didn't work either. My dh's power drill is looking mighty good right now.

I always use my super-sharp sewing scissors. They seem to work fine. Good luck, sounds like lots of fun!

So I should probably cut out the felt pieces for the pumpkin faces for the kids ahead of time? Is there some kind of hole punch out there that will go through felt? I think it is time for a trip to Michael's or Joann.

The scrap booking cutters such as Sizzix work very well for cutting felt.

I don't know how much time or help you'll have but if you want them to be personalized you could have the kids draw the triangles and you could cut them out.

My first thought was to have the kids draw them and me cut them out. But there are 23 first graders and I have about 30 minutes. It is not going to work even if I have the teacher helping me. I thought that maybe I could cut out a whole bunch of different eyes, ears and noses in black and yellow felt and they could chooose what they want. I also thought maybe they could individualize them with markers.

I will check out the Sizzix brand. I also saw that the Martha Stewart brand has a punch that will go through felt. I have a 50% off coupon for Michael's. I am going to check it out tomorrow.

I thought that might be the case.

The markers are a good idea! What about glitter glue too?

Everybody loves glitter glue! Good idea. I'll see what little things I can find at Michaels that athey can also glue to the felt.
