They say its non-dairy. I wonder if it works?

Are you avoiding corn? The first ingredient is dextrose...

No I'm not.

My problem is that we have GI Progurt & it stopped working. It was expensive & they are out of stock til Nov. so I was looking for something new.

What do you mean "it stopped working"? Mine expired in June and it's still working (still tastes like yogurt to me).

Do you have to keep buying starter or can you save some of your batch of yogurt and use it as starter the next time like they do for sour dough starter?

Thanks,
Tracy

You can save some from the last batch. Eventually you'll have to use starter again but it should work for several batches. Speaking of Progurt, mine is expired too and it's kind of pink-ish. It still makes yogurt fine and doesn't taste funny or anything but I wonder if I should be more worried? It wasn't pink when I bought it . . .

Well my husband thinks the coconut milk doesn't taste yogurty. I'm not sure what I think. If it weren't yogurt, wouldn't it separate in the fridge? It's also quite thin.

We've tried using some from the last batch & it just doesn't come out very good at all.

However, we did use some in Kathy's frosting & it tasted divine.

I'm glad the frosting turned out well! I never tried making a new batch from an old batch. Mine is still kind of beige, not pink. And it's the right texture. I don't like this batch though because I didn't put any sugar in it (I usually put in 3 Tbs. per batch and it's perfect, but I'm trying to do the anti-yeast diet so no sweeteners -- not as good).

Stevia would probably be okay if you found just the right amount. It's a fine line with it though - too much is bitter and yucky.

Hey wait . . . I thought you had to add sugar to coconut yogurt to give the cultures something to eat?? Okay I just looked at the can and I guess there's more sugar in coconut milk than I thought.
