If you had a full set of circs in one length...

...what length would you get?

I ask because my mom found a Hiya Hiya needle co-op offering 16 sets of circs sized 0 to 13, but by the sounds of it all the needles have to be the same length. The choices are from 9" to 60", but I despise the feel of knitting with small circumference needles and I have several sets of 16" already, so I'm thinking of going with the 32".

It's kind of a weird thing to have to think about, and I'm wondering what factors you'd consider with that same-length limitation... TIA.

I'd choose 16 because then I could knit most things from hats to kids' sweaters

I think I'd pick 16 or 20...but I don't magic loop so and mostly knit for my kids.

I'd probably go with 40" for ease of magic loopiness.

I'd go 40" to get the most out of them. 2 socks at once to giant afghans.

call me crazy- but I like those extra little 7 inches for MLing. so 47" here.

I'd go with the really long ones so you can do magic loop. It's the most economical way, since you only need one of each size to do it. You'll have every needle you'll ever need. 40"+ should work well.

ETA: If the cords are really flexible, like Addis, then 40" is good for magic loop. But if they're more stiff, like my ChiaGoos, then I'd go with longer.

I'd go with 40. It's a good length for ML, but also short enough that you're not getting too tangled in it if you decide to knit flat.

That was all great input; thank you! I'm going with the 40's. I have a decent collection of 16's already, and that's by far my most-used sized, as I mostly knit soakers, kid hats, kid sweaters, booties, etc., but as I branch into other projects (namely socks and big-people sweaters), I'm thinking the magic loop/large circumference will come in handy...
