Circumcision Rates

Thread Starter
If my math skills and sources are remotely accurate, the MN circ rate in 2006 dropped to about 65%. Anyone know how to search hcupnet.ahrq.gov for the number of live male births? Or can someone do it for me? I know last time I looked... the 2005 rates were about 75% (2004 about 77%).

Anyone know any good sites to get state by state statistics for more recent years ('06/'07)? Do you know the rates or trends in your state?

Thanks!!!

You can find the number of births by selecting the ICD-9-CM diagnosis codes V30.00-V39.99

The hospital new born circumcision rate in Minnesota for 2004-2006 was

Year Rate
2004 77%
2005 77%
2006 70%

If my numbers are correct, in Minnesota in 2006 the number of male births was 35,057 and the number of new born circumcisions was 24,383.

hcupnet.ahrq.gov is the best site for state by state statistics. Unfortunately not all states participate.

It takes a little more than a year to collect and organize the data. The 2007 data will be available in 2009.
