Ads INSIDE posts?

Thread Starter
I just went to the GD forum and - inside an initial post (not simply below it) there was an ad for something that read, "Someone Is About to Make a Killing".

Really? Will we continue to see ads inside posts, or was this a glitch?

Were you logged in?

I'm logged in, and there's an ad in this post.

I see ads inside the posts all the time. When I read this thread there was an ad for a bank inside the first post.

I see them all the time and I'm logged in. Is there anyway to get them to go away? It's getting really annoying.

That's odd, I don't see them at all and I am supposed to get all the ads.

I checked and they are supposed to be there, it is just a temporary ad spot that is being run.

I get Google banner ads in every thread. They're always under the first post. Is there any way to make them go away? This didn't used to happen when I was logged in.

That is a temporary ad run, we don't always have that going.

One can either use firefox adblock or have a supporting member package

How much is a supporting membership?

here's all about supporting memberships: http://www.mothering.com/discussions/payments.php

I can disable the ads with my script-blocker so I just do that now.

The banner ad under the first post is a bit annoying but easy to read and I even sometimes click on them. (I don't always have the script blocker going.)

The ad INSIDE the post is WAY too much. I'm glad to hear they are temporary.

The ads inside posts are offensive. I just read the most heartbreaking post about a death and inside the post is "Unwrap a Disney vacation surprise and get a call from Mickey Mouse on Christmas Day!"

Just wanted to say,.. I do not see any ads actually in posts.

I see an ad inside this very thread, for toys - it's between the OP and the next one (and then another ad after the last post in this thread). I see these "inside the thread" ads all the time - yes, when I'm signed in, as I am now - and it is extremely annoying. I refuse to buy a membership to this free site just to try to make ads go away, so I will be using PikkuMyy's suggestion and getting a script-blocker until MDC stops the ads. Thanks, PikkuMyy!

The OP is referring to ads inside the posts. Occasionally there *are* ads inside the OP of a thread.

MDC isn't stopping the Ads.

It is annoying but the Ads help pay for the running costs of the board. Mothering is not a large business and the board has grown to the extent that running the site without any sort of revenue would be a large financial burden.

The ads are what keeps this site free.

It would be nice if we didn't have to do that but there isn't really a good option.

I don't like them either, but you know what, if it keep MDC free and available, I can deal with them.
This is a huge board and it must cost quite a bit to keep it up and running. People don't want the ads, but don't want to pay memberships. I don't see another option.

I agree. And I'm glad MDC gives the option of going ad-free with a reasonably priced subscription.
