I need help staying cool and collected

I belong to a mom's group and several women are pregnant. I know that one is for sure having a boy. The others aren't far enough along to know. I just know in my gut that someone is going to post something re: circumcision on the message board and I want to be prepared.

I want to be able to list all the reasons not to circ. and refute the most common arguments people use to justify it. I do not want to come across too strongly because I don't want to automatically invoke defensiveness. I personally think it is mutilation and torture but of course if I say that no one will take me seriously. They'll just assume I'm a fanatic. (Which of course is not always a bad thing).

I've been thinking of typing up a big long post before the time comes and save it to use when needed. I need all of your intactivists help in forming this post. I want to know what I should write to cover all the bases. If I wait until the subject comes up I am afraid I'll be to emotional to give objective information. KWIM?

So, If anyone has a list already composed that I could copy or answers to all of the arguments I would appreciate it. I am not as quick or knowledgable with all of the info. as some of you. (I just knew in my heart when I had my own boy that it was wrong).

I would like to know that I was instrumental in saving one little boy or at least know that I did my best.

Thank you all so much.

I had this come up recently with a friend; I knew she liked Sears, so at first I just said, "You know, i didn't know this before my DD was born, but lots of people no longer recommend RIC-- here's the link to Dr. Sears' information (link Sears)" Also a link to the AAP or AAFP websites. I would just give the bare information first and see where it goes from there.

You should PM Blu Razzberri. She has an excellent email that she sends out. Totally non-confrontational. Packed with info and easy to read.

And of course, you can always direct them to a circ video online if they don't agree that circing is a big deal.

I think the best one for this situation, because it is authoritative (since it was written by doctors and includes many references) is this:

http://www.doctorsopposingcircumcisi...yStatement.pdf

It covers all the important aspects, especially going into the rights of the child and duties of the parents and doctors to act in their best interest.
