Anyone here buy kids clothes on ebay?

I have been looking at toddler girl lots for great deals, I just bought my DD a new wardrobe for fall from Old Navy, but all the pants are too darn big because of her no longer needing diapers. Now all the pants fall down, so I saw another thread about adjustable pants and thought I'd check ebay for some, I've also been looking at Hanna Andersson stuff on there. Many of the deals are super good.

Anybody buy clothes for their kiddos on there?

Occasionally. Mostly I get dresses for my daughter there because it's hard to find things in stores that meet our standards.

Yes, I buy kids clothes on ebay. Lately I have gotten really great deals. I think the sucky economy is showing in ebay prices- good for buyers, not so for sellers.

I've done it in the past- when my girls were "easy to fit". Since starting puberty, they've NEEDED to try stuff on before buying it.

I haven't bought too much for DS for two reasons: he gets enough shirts as hand-me-downs already, and pants don't seem to hold up well enough to be worth buying used. Boys' pants just get worn out, and unless I buy him good quality pants, brand new, they won't hold up until he outgrows them and I end up having to replace them.

Yes, I buy a good portion of my DD's wardrobe from eBay and Craig's List. My mom and another "honorary" Grandma buy her the rest. (Count them among the folks who can't pass up buying baby girl clothes at any opportunity!)

I've had great luck with both eBay and Craig's List.

Thanks I live in the middle of nowhere and I just can't get anything quality and the local 2nd hand stores are a total hit and miss.

I second the dresses, I have found things that were actually my type of dresses for DD, not too flouncy and just nice.

I wanted to add that my "trick" for buying clothes on ebay is using auction sniper-- I put in the max I'm willing to pay and then I walk away. That way I don't get sucked into overpaying for clothes.

My trick is I only buy pretty big lots (like 10 or more items). I have found I get a much better deal that way because of shipping.

Yes, I've both bought and sold my DD's clothes on Ebay. You can get some pretty good deals. But I've found it helps to really know what things are worth. So many people buy things on clearance and try to re-sell them on Ebay for more than the original high price.

I agree that buying lots is the best value.

I like buying clothes and shoe lots. My oldest dd has sensory issues so buying a lot of 5+ pairs of used shoes and getting one pair that she actually consents to wearing is worth the $20 worth of shipping in my book.

The other neat thing about buying the lots is that there is always at least one article of clothing in there that you never thought your kid would like.

I have bought some stuff. I definitely try ebay for party clothes and things which I don't think get much wear.

For other stuff I prefer to see in person before I buy. Fortunately we have plenty of nearly new sales in our area.

I've bought higher end boutique clothes on ebay. You can get Tea Collection clothing for example, brand new for much cheaper than retial. But one needs to use some discretion.

I use it for specific brands in sizes I know work for my kids. I have a couple of saved searches, and they send me an email when that items come up. I put in my max bid and walk away. Occasionally I do the lot thing, especially if we are in need of a bunch of play clothes (which isn't often since they wreck enough of their good stuff) and I agree there is always something we love in there that we didn't expect to.

I've bought lots of play clothes for DS on e-bay over the years. There are some good deals on name brand clothes! The only issue I've ever had was that I got one box of clothes that smelled like cigarettes and it took a lot of washes to get the stink out. Now I look for non-smoking home auctions.

I both sell and buy, but mostly sell-except for shoe lots. My dd #1 has small narrow feet,so a good shoe lot in the right size is really worth it. also if I find half of an expensive hanna set thrifting it can be worth it to search for the other half.

Yeah, I just sold 1 outfit plus two shirts the other day. They were new with tags from jcpennys. I only got $2. I was so sad. I thought that since the economy is bad that more people would be buying on ebay instead of in the stores.

I do buy on ebay and craigslist often when buying clothes for the kids. I have less luck on clothes for me.

Yeah the freecycle in my area is pretty lame, I live in a very rural, and pretty poor county. There are rarely good items being given away. I haven't had any luck.

Great advice. When DS was about 2, I had a great run at finding stuff that I wanted at good prices but I also nearly overpaid for his winter coat and snow suits as I got caught up in the bidding. I then realized, for example, a used Lands End jacket would have cost me as much as getting one of Lands End clearance site.

DS is a little harder to size right now so I haven't ebayed recently.

So, I took the advice on this thread to heart last night and did a buy-it-now on two Hanna Anderson shirts and a skirt. With shipping, it was $13. At first I was all, well... that's a little over 4 per piece. Then when I thought about it, I realized I would pay more buying the stuff individually once I factored in shipping. And I'd actually be willing to pay that much per piece if I was buying a thrift store. So thanks for helping me think outside my box!
