And it's by a US Dr too.

I have sooooo much I'd like to say about the author, the article and many of the comments but I'd no doubt get myself banned here.
So I'll just agree that article blows!

It sounds like the study's methodology and how it defined the measurable breast feeding parameters, was insensitive to the effects that RIC would have, so it is no suprise that it concludes RIC has no effect. But I do not have a lot of knowledge in this area.

Circ does "DISRUPT" BFing. If you are having trouble with it but are making some ground, circ brings you a step or two back. Babies are fidgety and inpatient after they are circ'd. In the long run the people that would truly be affected as far as bfing is concerned are the people that are on the fence with bfing in the first place. Others would pull through and eventually get through the initial disruption. I don't think they accounted for that.

The author does generally have an axe to grind with the natural parenting community, and specifically Mothering.com. (I'm trying to keep this in the realm of an objective observation, not an attack)

So it doesn't surprise me that she's pro-intervention of all kinds, not just when it comes to birth. She's pretty clear in her view that doctors do no wrong.

This physician just stinks all around. She is right the rest of the world i swrong and she will hear no other opinions. If you go through her archives there are some ugly posts she has written on breastfeeding, homebirth, natural birth and so on.
