Fairy hat for cold Halloween night?

My dd (20 mos) is going to be a fairy for Halloween. I've figured out how to keep her body warm but don't know what to do about her head. It's COLD here.

I've googled this and can't really even come up with what a fairy would wear on her head. She will be wearing long johns, tights and a pair of mama made babylegs. Her little silky/tulle/covered with flowers skirt and warm tops layered. She is just a generic fairy I guess!

Any ideas? I want to make this - inexpensively.

Thanks

Could she be a flower fairy? You could buy/make a simple plain hat and attach silk or felt flowers or petals, or a flower crown that is big enough to "hide" the hat.

I'm making a hat similar to this one for DS. He's going to be an elf...you could put the ears on it, and maybe some tulle that trails down from the end a bit, and a couple of fake flowers.

I think a fairy could use a crown. This could be a "metal" crown (aka something with glitter), a crown of flowers, or a crown of leaves.

Maybe one of those ear warmer bands. You could cover it in leaves and a couple small flowers. Sort of like a crown of laurel leaves.

Maybe a ski-hat/knit hat with crazy "yarn" hair? So your little one could have purple or pink or sparkly "hair" (some of those fantasy eyelash/faux fur yarns are fun and inexpensive) while having their head covered? Add a crown of leaves/flowers/foil like pp mentioned and it would be adorable!

How about one of those tall princess type hats and have a fabric veil type thing coming down to protect her neck...or maybe something like this http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php...ng_id=11680310 but have the fabric come farther to the front. If you did the tall princess hat you could have the fabric attach at the brim and then have something gauzy at the top on the point.

I am thinking microfleece instead of gauze at the neck would provide more warmth (but still not be hugely bulky).

THANKS! Your ideas got me thinking and I came up with what I hope will work.

I bought a pair of inexpensive ear muffs and will wrap the band over the top of the head with ribbon. I'll glue some tulle from the top of the head spot, down the back and hot glue the same flowers I put on the skirt - on the top. It should keep her warm enough I think (and it can always go over a lightweight hat if necessary) and still be fairy like!

Yay!!
