My due date is tomorrow and I'm not feeling anything. Part of me feels pretty peaceful with it and I already made out some plans for tomorrow. Part of me is feeling a little irritated because I know people are wondering "why hasn't she had that baby yet!" And I do really really really want to meet my babe. But just remembering that it will happen when it's time and in the end these last few weeks will have seemed to fly by.

So... I think my water just broke!! I was doing pelvic rocks on my birth ball when with each rock a little liquid would come out. I thought, hmm, maybe I'm peeing myself again... so I kept on doing it. (Ha, hows that for logic!?) Then an enormous amount of liquid felt like it came out. In the time it took me to jump up and get to the toilet (maybe 5 sec) it'd soaked my undies and my jeans and kept coming out in the toilet. I tested in the puddle in my unides with Ph paper and it turned dark green (8/9ph). According to google, that's amniotic fluid.

So I guess I should call my midwives, huh?

No contrx yet, but midwives just left and baby sounds excellent and my uterus has dropped 1.5 cm!! So yeah, definitely my water. We're just in waiting mode (like we weren't before ) and hanging out. Probably go for a walk soon. What timing, eh? Water breaking on my due date!

question: can you use any old litmus paper to test, or does it have to be special for testing amniotic fluid? can I use the stuff I can get at the home improvement store?

I'm pretty sure you can use whatever litmus paper, though I've no idea where mine came from (was given to us). My midwives were asking me the color of mine, but their's turns dark blue when it's amniotic and mine was dark green... the point was that pee is pretty neutral, so anything with a high pH is probably amniotic fluid. We just had different brands of paper. I peed about 5 minutes after and tested that too and it was exactly neutral.

We have contractions! Last 3 hrs they've been steady at about 15 min apart, which isn't saying much in my book, but everyone else is taking them seriously. We're hoping they build over night and we have a baby tomorrow instead of petering out. Midwives say with leaky water (I get a gush almost every contrx) it probably won't be too long even if they slow down and I get some sleep, so I'm : and so : to meet this babe this weekend!
