Yay for naking!!
:
Baby Ainsley was born yesterday at 6:04pm, 7lbs 1oz & 18.5in! I went from not knowing I was in labor (4pm) to having a baby in 2hrs, holy crap! She is beautiful and healthy!
And here is my crazy birth story. I woke up with some pains Thursday morning at 7 and thought it was just because I had to pee. Then realized they were coming every 10 mins, some 5-6mins, but after 4 weeks of this sort of thing didn't think much of it. Around 12pm they seemed to stop, I was disappointed, but expected it. Only they didn't stop, they just spaced out to 15-20-30 mins apart and got really intense. I didn't think much of it, them being so far apart, but goodness was it annoying. Since my mom is 40mins away and I didn't want to have to go to the hospital to see what was going on if it kept up I called my ob and the person who answered said, "Well.. if they're only 15-20mins apart.. " so I said yes, but they're more intense. After she asked when I was due (a week ago!) she said okay come in and we'll see. My mom got here about an hour later and I went (dh had a test to take). Hooked me up, I had several little ones, nothing to write home about, and one or two of the really painful ones, but I was sure they'd just send me home because how on earth can such tiny contractions and those spaced so far do anything? The doctor came in and was all jokey, and talking to the nurses, and during a contraction (not super painful, but annoying enough to not want to be bothered, you know, like the last 4 weeks of them have been) he asked me what day it was. I was so effing annoyed! So I mumbled, "I don't know.. the 23rd?" He said, "It's your kid's birthday, go to the hospital now, do not go home!" So not being in that much pain I'm thinking you're nuts, I'm going home first. Ironically enough the contractions picked up when we got to the hospital (sometime after 4pm), just more frequent, not really any more painful then they had been. And some nurse said, "Are you Megan? We've been waiting for you! We thought you'd deliver in the car!" I was checked around 5 and was 7cm when at the office I'd just been 5 w/ bulging membranes. After they got their 20min strip and I was allowed to get up I had to pee and found the toilet to be the most comfortable place to labor, but decided to get up and was in quite a bit more pain. I was leaning over the bed rocking and the nurse said something about rocking like that and feeling pressure then to get into the bed to be checked, so the baby isn't born onto the floor. The next contraction I said okay, it was 5:52, and dh said, "If you have her in the next minute she'll be born at the same time Colin was" and I wanted to hit him, like she'd be out in 10mins, let alone 1! A contraction after I got into the bed I my body pushed (the most incredible thing, I could not control it!) and I felt her move down (she was only at 0 station before). The next one was the same, my body pushed and I felt her head come out. But the time the very flustered doctor got there her head was half out. It was the most intense pain I've ever felt, I couldn't help not pushing, I did push some but my body did a lot of it. My doctor was saying stop, wait and I just kept saying sorry, I can't help it! When I tried to hold it it was the most ridiculous pain I'd ever felt and I got a little loud.. I had to be cut to make room for her because she was coming, I couldn't help it, and my doctor was concerned about her shoulders with it being so fast. So at 6:04, after the most ridiculous 10mins of my life, the rest of her came out! My doctor kept telling me how great I did, "So controlled" over and over and over again, I felt like he was just be patronizing, I didn't really do much, it just happened! The nurses were saying the same things, and it made me feel good, even though again, I didn't have a choice (though half was through I was saying "no, stop, I can't do this!" I almost asked if it was too late for an epidural
Anyway, that's it. Still can't believe it, that I got to 7cms with hardly any pain (however a whole lot of frustration!). When the doctor got to the hospital at first he said to the nurse, "Can you believe that she's smiling and she's 7cms!" Delivery sure made up for that though
And now she's crying so I gotta go!
