Well I tried and am trying...

Last night I got my haircut. The hairdresser is pregant with a boy, due in December. We were chatting about everything and I finally said to her - 'can I give you some TMI advice that I really thing you need?' She said, 'yes of course.' So I said 'when I found out I was having a boy I happened to see what happens when a baby boy is circumcised. I was horrified by it and cried at the thought of it. Please don't let this happen to your baby.' I then told her it wasn't medically needed and could affect breastfeeding. She was very adament about the importance of breastfeeding. I then went into the pain part. She was receptive so I went into the future of it and how intact penises are as they are meant to be and sex is as it should be. She agreed and actually descriped how nice it is! So hopefully, hopefully, I made a difference!! Fingers crossed!

Tomorrow I am going to a baby shower for a very good friend. She knows my opinion. We were pregnant together for our first children. I had a boy, obviously intact and she had a girl. She heard how I felt then and I have been giving her tidbits since.

So in addition to the things off her list I will give her the mothering packet about circumcision and the most recent issue about how circumcision doesn't prevent HIV. I am praying it works. She is such a dear friend it would crush me if she doesn't see the truth and does it. I don't know what I would do if she consented to having it done. So cross you fingers and pray my actions work with both of these women, and anyone I am brave enough to talk to!

If nothing else I am trying!

Good for you for being brave!

ETA: And informative. I just mean its brave to tell people when you don't know how they will respond

I'm proud of you! It's so hard to go out of the comfort zone and I'm guessing it might have been that way with the hair dresser.
Good luck with your friend too!
