Was reaction to HIB or DTap?

At 2 mo my daughter had Hib and Dtap. She was OK for a few hours and then screamed in pain for exactly three hours. That's a reaction, right?

So her 4 mo visit is coming up and we are supposed to do another round of hib and dtap, and I just don't wanna! I have a feeling that it will be bad again and I just don't want to do that to my baby!

Have I already wreaked her immune system with those two shots?

We want to travel to see family in Hungary, maybe even live there for 6 months to a year. How do we figure out what we need to do for that?

I EBF my girl and just want her to be safe, happy and healthy all the time. That's not too much to ask, right?

What's worse - the vax or the disease??!!! I am agonizing over this.

Im guessing the DTaP. Its associiated with screaming.

i'm so sorry. not vaxing is scary b/c "vaxes save lives" is drilled into us starting at such an early age. i found it less scary to research the diseases. checkout insidevaccines.com for great, research-based into. i wouldn't give any shots unless i was sure that they were needed.

HiB
-vary rare. before the vax was on the schedule there were only about 2,000 cases of HiB meningitis. the incidence of meningitis hasn't gone down since the vax was introduced. the bacteria causing the meningitis has just changed to HiA or a few other types.

DTaP
-the chance of catching diphtheria is almost 0.
-the chance of catching tetanus is almost 0 (even before the vax, kids almost never caught it).
-pertussis is annoying and possibly scary but rarely dangerous for kids over 6 months of age. IIRC, it's a summer disease, so the chance of catching it is low.

That's a classic DTaP reaction.

So don't. Might I gently suggest that you do some research & extensive reading here in the forum archives before considering any more vaccines.

Not necessarily. It's never too late to stop.

Why would you need to do anything? Will you have ready access to healthy food and clean water/sanitation?

That is something you really need to decide for yourself. Again, I suggest that you start reading and researching.
