Life on Mars

Is anybody besides me watching this? I'm liking it a lot. I'd also be curious to see the British version. I'm trying to figure out what he needs to do to get back. My DH says it made him think of Quantum Leap, but it doesn't change with each episode. And I'm loving Michael Imperioli.

I thought that I was going to like it, but the first one left me disappointed.

I wonder how long they can stretch the concept... DH and I like this show, though, even though the music sticks in my head.

If you can get your hands on the original BBC series, I highly recommend it. It was fantastic, one of the best shows I've seen in the past few years. There is even a spin off series called Ashes to Ashes that takes place in the early 80s and has some of the same characters but it's not available in the states as far as I know.

I don't know...I want to like the US version but I'm having a hard time, since I keep comparing it to the original. The British Sam Tyler was quite different from Jason O'Mara (that's his name, right?). The American Sam is more...angry or something. Harvey Keitel is NOTHING like the original Gene, Philip Glenister. The original Gene and crew were just over the top, outrageous but still lovable. Gene was awesome! Plus I think the US show should have been set in a smaller city than NY. NY is just so overdone on TV cop shows.

I'm a couple of episodes behind but I saw the first one and I didn't hate it. I'll keep the series recording on my dvr but I don't rush to watch it like I do other shows.

So totally how I feel.

I was pleasantly surprised by this show. But I'm also totally paranoid that it will be cancelled before they resolve it and we'll never know why he went back in time.

I've been surprised by how much I'm enjoying this show. Does anyone know how it's doing with ratings?

Last I heard it was on the bubble and my not be picked up.

I like the show. I was surprised I liked it. I like the characters and I like the mystery. I hope the show makes it. I was loving Journeyman when it got cancelled and this reminds me of it a bit, so I hope they don't cancel this one too.

I agree I wish it wasn't in NY. Very over done.

Oh gosh, I hope they don't cancel it. Time to start playing it up to everyone I know.

Well, if they cancel it just go on wikipedia and read up on the Brit version and how the producers changed the story for the US version. Don't want to spoil anything.

I'm really liking this show, but I don't see how it can last very many seasons? Seems like they're wrapping up a lot of the loose ends already.

The British version of LoM is one of my favorite, favorite shows of all time. The American version is not nearly as good, but I still like to watch it, because I like to see what they change and what they leave the same.

The American show will be back on January 28th with new episodes. Don't get too attached to this show, I don't think it will be around beyond the first season. Do get the British show if they ever release it here. My region 2 DVDs of both seasons are the most watched DVDs in the house.
