I agree, not a fan of the Angus sound, or the beef association, but otherwise like it. And so jealous about you going to Newgrange. I wanna see it! On the winter solstice!

The unfortunate thing about naming is there's other names I like that are out of the question, because I won't give my kid the first name of someone close who's alive. So, no Richard (my father in law), Brendan, Eric (my stepbro-in-law, also me should I have been a boy), Kevin (husband), Evan (rhymes with Kevin).

Good to know I'm not the only Firefly Geek around here. I actually managed to find a button-down shirt for the little one that has a definite "Wash" feel to it. Now I just need a Kaylee shirt and I'll have all my bases covered...

I don't want to use names of family or friends either. One of my favourite names ever is River but my cousin's kid is named that. So it's out too. Another is Hunter, that I wanted as a middle name (it's my Grandma's maiden name) but another cousin just used it for her son's middle name. Oh well. There are lots of other names out there, right?

Lizzy, I really like some of those!

We haven't even come up with a fake name for the babe yet. Friends of ours who are due in April call theirs Trogdor.

I'm not really a fan of naming my kids after other family members either. I did give DS DH's middle name.. but it sounded good together, and I told DH he could pick the middle name if I got to use Sebastian.. (his middle name is Dee).

I also like the name Violet, which happens to be DH's grandma's last name.. but it doesn't sound good with Veronica any way.. (that is IF DH agrees to Veronica).

We have a hard time agreeing on names. DH is too picky. I like unique names as long as they aren't too "out there" or hard to spell or pronounce. I was always one of 5 Erins in my class.

I've always liked the name Aislinn (pronounced Ashleen) but I think it's becoming more popular.

I think it's nice to give a middle name that honours a family member, just not a first name (for me.) I'd like to balance individuality and family connection. DH and I both have unusual names too. So I think it would actually be strange to give the baby a really mainstream name.

I like Violet too, but flower names are right out, as we have dogs name Daisy and Lily. We didn't name either of them. They came with their names, but it wold be a little too strange to name the baby with the same theme as the dogs.

When I was pregnant with Sebastian, I told people his name was Sebastian. I only got crap from one person (my former midwife of all people).. I think most people were expecting us to pick a name like "Rainbow Moonbeam" so when we picked a "normal" name they were thrilled!

and, I mean.. come'on...my daughter's name is Willow.

We're huge Jossphiles.


ETA: We've been bouncing around baby names... The Dude has a whole list on his computer... the only one I can remember at the moment is Carson Fey for a girl.

i haven't thought much about names. last time i chose the first name (ruby) and my dh choose the middle name (skye). this time he gets to choose the first name and i get the middle. i do have some veto power if i totally hate it!

the middle name will be sage, whether it is a boy or a girl. the first name has to have atleast 2 syllables since our last name has one and i hate the sound of 2 short names together.

my top choices would be poppy or anouk for a girl and finley or owen for a boy.

DH thinks it's a girl, and I have been trying to convince him that Veronica is an awesome name and it seriously sounds cool with our last name.. and told him he could pick the middle name if Veronica can be the first name (that's exactly what I told him about Sebastian too )

My son is Nathan Elliot. I want the new baby's name to compliment that, but not start with the same letters. Is also can't start with A or J.

For a girl, the name Ivy popped into my head out of nowhere one day while I was driving (months ago), and I really like it. Not sure how much DH likes it though. One we considered last time was Eliana (el-E-ah-na). Or Elaina (a-lay-na). But not sure I want another "E" name.

As for a boy name? I have no idea. The only one that's come up was Colin but I'm not thrilled with that either. Hmm
