Couch help!

I inherited this house from my father when he passed away and so it came with a ton of furniture. Well, almost 3 years later the couch/love seat are still in ok condition, except one smells and they both have the sides scratched to bits, but are very comfy. Dh and I have talked about getting rid of them and getting a futon. We recently got the futon off Freecycle but we still have the 2 other couches and I just can't seem to bring myself to sell them. I recently put them on craigslist and someone replied about the couch but I'm really hesitant to respond since I don't know if I'm making the right choice or not.

I guess I'm just wondering if we're making the right choice by getting rid of the love seat/couch and going with the futon (we're trying to simplify our house a bit). The futon is in good condition, very comfy but the only thing is when ds climbs on it the cushion slides down. Plus, I'm afraid it'll break, but then that can give us an excuse to get the nicer futon we want at a local store

So, what do you think?

Sometimes it is a good thing to let go of old furniture. Is your hesitation because it was your dad's? Or something else?

I don't think it's so much that it was my dad's furniture since I still a plethora of his stuff - including the house and his memories. I guess I'm just worried that it'll be some huge, horrible mistake, that maybe we'll regret it later on. I guess that just seems irrational b/c if we don't like it them we can always find another couch for a decent price somewhere else.

Hmm... well, after writing this out and thinking about it, I have no idea why I'm so hesitant. I guess I'm just second guessing myself and I suck at making big decisions - if you consider replacing furniture a big decision (I'm sure it would be a bigger decision if we were actually buying the furniture to replace the old)

In that case, it will be fine to get rid of them. Couches are easily replaced and if you are not wild about it, there really is no reason to hold on to them. Good luck!
