Calli Elizabeth
October 23rd, 3:16 PM
6 lbs, 9 oz
19.5" long

She is absolutely perfect and I love her more than anything in the world.

I will post more of a birth story when I have had a chance to process it (it was extremely traumatic for me).

After (what I think was) a bogus diagnosis of PIH I was induced with prostaglandin gel. 3 days of labor and 5 hours of "transition" and I was told I was 1.5 cms The contractions for those 5 hours were literally non-stop, no break in between, couldn't breathe through them they were so bad. After that my body just kind of shut down....I had given up. Contractions slowed to every 10-20ish minutes and I was taken for a section the next day at 3 PM because I had still not progressed past what I was. My body wasn't ready to birth and I should have listened to it. This birth was everything I had fought so hard to avoid. I am doing horribly trying to process this whole thing. I am traumatized.

Minutes old with her daddy.

1 day old with her mommy.

I'm so happy your baby is here but I'm so sorry about the birth. I also had a very unexpected cesarean after laboring with my first. It was really hard for me to process. I found a lot of comfort in ICAN. It took me several months to get there, though.

Congratulations on your sweet new baby!

I'm sorry you didn't get the birth experience you wanted. Be gentle on yourself mama. And I strongly second the ICAN suggestion. They have some brand new bulletin boards up with a private forum for c-section moms. I've been doing a lot of lurking there and it's really helped me to process what happened to me.

HUGE s to you.

Thanks so much girls. I have already started to work through it. Haven't gotten very far but I have started. Once I start feeling better from the c/s I am sure I will have an easier time processing it. My milk came in today and Calli is having trouble getting a good latch so my breasts are pretty sore too. Thank goodness my doula is coming tomorrow to help me get her to latch better. I am thankful she is latching period though. We had a really rough start in hospital as far as BFing is concerned.

You are strong and amazing and your little girl is so lucky to be able to call you Mama.

Welcome to the world, Calli!
