fingerpaint question

Thread Starter
I just made my first fingerpaint from MaryAnn Kohl's recipe ("dollarwise slippery tabletop fingerpaint" -- basically, cornstarch, gelatin, water, and tempera). I think playing with it was as much fun for me as for my 19 month old! But now I'm wondering about storage -- it made MUCH more than we used -- will it keep OK? Should I refrigerate it?? I'm worried about it getting moldy...

thanks!

There was no gelatin in the recipe I used but it kept fine for a couple of weeks in sealed containers. I think it would have probably kept better in the fridge but we don't have the space.

Oh, you sound like a fun mama to make homemade finger paint. Do you have any small jars or tupperware you can store it in? If it were me I would stick it in the fridge and then give it a good sniff-test to make sure it didn't smell rancid next time you want to play with it. From the ingredients listed it doesn't sound like it would go south too quickly.

I would refrigerate. It should be fine.
