Increasing help!!

Here is the deal, I know how to do basic increases but, I need to know how to start with one stitch and then increase on both sides. Does that make any sense?

So the stitches will hopefully look like this...

.....^
...^^^
.^^^^^
(I had to put the periods so it would actually work)

So on and so forth....

Anyone know a good link or how to explain this to me?:

On the first row/round M1, KFB - that will take you from 1 to 3 stitches. From that point on you can KFB the first and last stitch each time you need to. Does that help?
M1 = make 1 (like a backward loop or pick up the "bar" between stitches)
KFB = knit the stitch front & back

This past week I was just introduced to KF KB KF

That's knit in front, knit in back, knit in front all on one stitch. That would probably work for you.
