diaper changing in cold house - Page 2

ditto the space heater. esp. one of those cheaper ones that blast hot air, to turn on while just changing. BTW, if a baby is born in a cold environs, he/she gets used to it. Witness happy babes bundled up and playing in places where some homes have no continuous heat (apart from cooking), like Mongolia, rural China, etc.

I second the wipe warmer. This is a must for my DS. He cries and fusses like crazy when the cloths are cold. I moisten some ahead of time and fold them in the warmer. I bought mine for $4 at a second-hand shop. DH and I also got used to making the changes as quick as possible.

Now to hijack this thread for a moment, what I'd like to know is how to Potty Learn in the cold. Now that it's cold, I feel bad about letting DS run about with a bare bum, and I'm too cheap to spend $$ for training pants. He's also started saying no to using the potty and I suspect it's because he doesn't want to be cold. Ideas?

Not the answer you want, but IMHO you'll have to wait until May. Around here it's simply too cold to potty train during the winter. Six months doesn't make that big a difference either way, assuming you use cloth, & it will be easier and faster then anyway.

This is the way it was done in generations earlier (tho they did PT at earlier ages, because washing was a huge chore). Living in a year round spring climate is a luxury most people will have to learn to do without. I suspect we will be returning to the 'old ways' a LOT in the coming decade as economic and energy conditions get worse. Our grandparents survived it and so can we.
