My babe's too young for the flu shot. I am EBF. Should I get one myself? Or not?

My doctor recommended i get one and my newborn is 4 weeks old. He also recommended I get an updatedate DTap (pertussis) vaccine. There is a whooping cough outbreak here. This way baby will get the passive immunities for both.

Getting vaccinated does not pass immunities to a breasfed baby. The flu shot is supposes to prevent the flu, however, DTaP does not work the same way. DTaP does NOT prevent transmission. It may prevent the disease in some people, prevent a bad case of the disease in others, but the vaccine does not prevent transmission. Whooping cough outbreaks are everywhere and is fairly common despite high vaccination rates. I would recommend spending some time on the vax board getting questions about vaccines answered. Or visit www.insidevaccines.com/wordpress. There is a ton of easy-to-read info there.
