Talk to me about the flu vaccine

The flu vaccine is one that I have never looked into just because I think it is pointless either way. My hubby is military though and they just informed him that as soon as his cold goes away he will need to get the vax. Ive read that it is a dead strain that they vax you with but for the past 4 years, every time he recieves this vaccine he ends up sick. This year I am 4 weeks away from delivering and we have an almost 19 month old dd. So Im kind of nervous about him getting the vaccine and being around us.

Also... I thought it was funny how my dr. asked me if I wanted it and when I told him absolutely not, he informed me that it really is pointless for me and other adults but it could save my babys life. And I went on to tell him... sorry we dont do any vaccines. The man seriously looked at me like I was crazy and asked me, "not even for your daughter"? NOPE! I told him. But he seriously asked me about a million times and finally said, "so I should just write here that even though it benefits your baby and could save his life, you decline"? Ugh... dont they even just know when to stop!

"No, Doctor, you should write that the patient declined the flu vaccine for herself and her baby and will be leaving your practice due to your intolerable condescension and ignorance. Good day." :

I am going to commit that comeback to memory. I get irate and "lose words" when dealing with people like that.

haha I really felt like saying something like that. I am ONLY with them during the pregnancy. I am having a homebirth but I live on an island and my midwife doent live here so I have to get care through them. After he is born he will NOT be seeing these drs. Just like my daughter hasnt seen a dr. since 6 months of age.
